What exactly does Communities In Schools do?
CIS is not a program, but a process of brokering and coordinating services into schools to benefit youth and families. CIS facilitates hundreds of services in more than 60 schools. CIS also coordinates after school services in 42 schools in Wayne County, and manages a Community Technology Center, volunteer services, and a warehouse of incentives for students.

Where are you located?

The main offices of CIS of Detroit and its Community Technology Center are at 5830 Field Street on the eastside of Detroit. School services are provided onsite at each CIS school.

Do you support school districts outside of Detroit?
CIS facilitates services in the Ecorse and River Rouge school districts and is in discussions with other districts.

How can my school become a part of CIS?
If you are interested in community partnerships, CIS develops them both locally and nationally. There are many different ways to partner, and with various services. The best way to start is by checking out the chart below or contacting CIS to learn about the great possibilities.

How much does it cost to have a CIS program?
The cost of services varies according to the breadth and depth of services requested. Each program is designed in partnership with the school and its community to meet the individual needs and interests of its students and their families. The cost can be as little as a few thousand dollars or more than $100,000 for a comprehensive cadre of services and vendors.
